5 EDINBURGH HIDDEN GEMS RECOMMENDED BY OUR EDINBURGH HOTEL

With a range of unique attractions, picture-perfect views and charming shops, Edinburgh isn’t short of things to do and see. However, this guide is for people who are looking to get off the beaten track. Here is our Edinburgh hotel’s guide to Edinburgh’s best-hidden gems…

National Museum of Scotland’s Rooftop Terrace

The National Museum of Scotland is a fantastic tourist attraction in its own right; however, it has its own little-hidden gem all the way up on the 7th floor. Most people miss the stunning rooftop terrace which gives you 360-degree panoramic views of Edinburgh. The entrance is a little hard to find, but once you do, you’ll be in awe of the special view of the city – you can even grab a bite to eat too! This is a favourite with our Edinburgh hotel staff.

Stockbridge

Stockbridge is a delightful area of Edinburgh and a favourite with the locals. With strong bohemian vibes, Stockbridge has a lot to offer a potential visitor with a tempting range of market stalls with street-food and gifts, as well as various boutiques, bars and cafes. Even better, it’s just a short walk away from our Edinburgh hotel!

Portobello Beach

A few miles from Edinburgh City centre, you can stumble upon a charming sea-side suburb.  The award-winning beach draws in large crowds during the summer season and hosts a variety of events. In the colder months, there’s still plenty to do and see near the delightful beach, with plenty of shops, cafes and bars, as well as an arcade!

Wild West

Hidden away from the main view is a whole other universe; Edinburgh’s very own Wild West town. This hidden gem was first built in the 1990’s to increase attention for a Southwestern style furniture venture, however, it now lies as part of Edinburgh’s quirky character. Although not used today, the Wild West near our Edinburgh hotel is a great photo opt!

John Knox House

Step into the history of the oldest building on The Royal Mile.  Walk in the footsteps of its inhabitants, understand the history of the 15th-century house and hear the drama unfold in every room. The house is associated with one of the most traumatic and turbulent times in Scottish history – the Scottish Reformation. Only a short walk from our Edinburgh hotel, John Knox House is a must-see when you stay with us.
